Party, chat

I woke up too early because I went out of sync with the universe.
I had a lot of party planning thoughts on my mind and couldn’t continue to sleep. I forgot all of them by now, but i know they were all great ones.
I talked for an hour with Drew from Beauty and the geek season 3 !
He’s a nice guy, fellow trekkie, and we talked about investements, the market, web 2.0, second life, and I even asked him two behind the scenes questions, which i’m sure it was the same questions he’s been asked over and over again and it’s the boring part of the chat.

It was a really fun chat.

I love the internet !

Don’t forget to come to my friday the 13th going on 30 birthday tonight at 19:00, in the back lawn of my house, if there’s no rain – fire works show at 21:30

Lecture tommorow

well, this went well.

Today, I’m giving a lecture at the FIrst Israeli games conference it’s the so far most important lecture I’ve had to give, because it will have a lot off effect of my business success in the near future.


Add the fact that my internal clock was set to go to sleep at 8-9AM during the previous days of holy and to wake up at 19:00 in the evening.

So even though I “rightfully” went to sleep early enough at 3am planning to wake up at 8am, I found myself wide awake, with no record of being tired at the lovely hour of 6am (the hour of writing this post) with 5 hours to go to my lecture and my mind filled with ideas for improvements on the lecture, which i’m going to implement now.
Add to that – the fact that i’m having a soar throat, causing me to be coughing LIKE HELL.
Add to that the fact that i celebrated my 30th birthday in a business conference, and working on this lecture instead of going out drinking or having all night sex with some beautiful blond.

I did went out yesterday afternoon with my dad to buy (some of the) supplies for a fireworks operating remote control, courtesy of Barnabas ! (he waived the 200NIS i owed him for fireworks materials), and a fireworks show he shall get !
now THAT was a nice birthday present ! thanks !
ok. back to work.
need to find out how to set a key shortcut for “add slide” in open office.

start up founders are NOT performance artists.
they aren’t very good stand up comedian.
They don’t know to write script or pretend to be someone else.


Rule number one of fiction writing, directing or acting : Maintain suspension of disbelief over your audience.

There wasn’t any. I couldn’t believe any of the CEOs or the marketing people with their silly show about “wow ! this

product/service is so good ! where can i get it ?” bullshit.
You’re the fucking FOUNDER ! didn’t you hear about you OWN product ?

I sat through 10 presentations. most of them had a “show” worse then a high school finishing play.
OH MY GOD ! why do they do it ?
Talk straight, talk forward.

Just don’t pretend. You’re not good at it. You might be good at lying to your investors, but you’re not actor.
DOn’t write your funny text. Don’t try to be one on stage. Just like you don’t let your secretary design and program

your MySql database.

I will commend Hingi, clicktale and g.ho.st for not putting a dumb show but actually talking to the point.
G.Ho.St actually had a VERY nice flash animation as presentation ! KUDOS !!

Another point for the organizers:
If you’re running late in your time schedule, and want to speed things up, giving up the break – not a good idea.

Gifts. You hear it every year in my blog.

no one knows what to buy me for my 30th birthday.
I don’t.
I always buy gift derived from my personal knowledge of my friends. Buying a meaningless wrapped up gift certificate is something i don’t get.
Getting someone a gift they wouldn’t like is even worse.

in any case my updated wish list
is in Amazon.
To save you some emberassment: I despise hebrew cases for DVD’s.
I always prefer originality.
